Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa, Mauritius
Set in a palm-shaded grove in the Northern region of Mauritius, Trou aux Biches sits along one of the best beaches on the island
With two kilometres of white sand and crystal clear waters setting the stage for blazing sunsets, guests are treated to views of one of the most stunning seascapes on the island.
Since closing in January 2009 for major renovation works, the original Trou aux Biches hotel was completely demolished and has been rebuilt with an investment of £60 million as a tropical village-style resort, featuring a series of luxury Suites and individual Villas dotted amidst an expansive tropical park. Great importance has been placed on preserving the resort’s unique atmosphere, something that is apparent when strolling through the spectacular lush gardens which have been carefully protected throughout the project. Guests of Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa will enjoy the ultimate in privacy, space and serenity, surrounded by nature in one of the most magical spots on the island.
A collection of Pavilions sit in crescents throughout a shady palm grove, each comprising three to four spacious Suites, of which there are five categories – Junior Suites, Tropical Junior Suites, Family Suites, Beach Front Suites and Beach Front Senior Suites. Some Suites are equipped with outdoor showers, tucked away amongst tropical greenery adding a touch of romance! All Suites are spacious and sophisticated, with elegant design and furnishings. For added wow-factor, the Beach Front Suites have private pools and enjoy prime sea front locations. In addition to the Suite accommodation, the resort offers 27 stunning two and three bedroom Villas which represent the last word in luxury island living.
Each of the six restaurants are designed to make the most of the warm climate and focuses on specialities sourced around the globe, prepared by world-class chefs. From the authentic Thai and Indian restaurants to refined European gourmet cuisine, beach BBQs and local delicacies, Trou aux Biches offers high quality dining.
The Spa comprises a string of individual thatched pavilions quietly tucked away amidst palm trees and exotic plants, centred around a tranquil pool. Treatments are with the classically luxurious Clarins brand, and the spa is equipped with a balneotherapy room, an algotherapy room, an Ayurvedic room and 17 massage cabins, including six double cabins and one dedicated to shiatsu and Thai massage, as well as two saunas, two hammams and a hair and beauty salon for those finishing touches.
A Bob Marlin Mini-Club featuring its own restaurant for children aged 3-12 years operates alongside a teens club for older children. Fun activities include glass bottomed boat excursions, hand painting, sailing, small-line fishing, snorkeling, tennis and waterskiing, offered on an age-appropriate basis and expertly supervised by fully qualified staff.
Weddings & Honeymoons
Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa is an idyllic location for memorable weddings and romantic honeymoons with its swaying palm trees and intimate feel. There is a personal wedding coordinator on site who will liaise with couples from the time of booking to ensure every detail of their big day is utterly perfect, and a choice of two beautiful wedding gazebos: one set on the beach and the other carved into an old Banyan tree.
A green future
Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa's green credentials extend beyond the retention of the original gardens, as the whole hotel has been redesigned to embrace and protect the beautiful environment in which it sits. New measures include 1,000 square metres of solar-heating panels to supply hot water; a composting unit able to handle up to five tons of green waste every day; drinking water and cold-water pumps have been fitted with flow regulators that will produce a 40% drop in electricity use; a waste-water treatment plant recycles 450 cubic metres every day, of which 300 cubic metres is used for irrigation; and high tech swimming pools fitted with the latest computerised control systems. Additionally, to enhance sustainability, a salt-water desalinisation plant provides a daily supply of 450 cubic metres of drinking water. This all ensures Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa remains one of the leading Mauritian hotels for many years to come.
