Nation’s top bucket list travel destinations revealed

Well according to scientists, Monday 18th January was ‘Blue Monday’ – the day in January we are most likely to feel low and depressed.  So unsurprisingly, it’s also the day that many of us will start to think about booking our summer holidays to take our mind off the cold, wet, dark winter.

Sunnier climes, a touch of adventure and classic culture are top of the wish list. In fact research we did at the start of the month tells us that if money were no object the top ten destinations Britons’ want to head to are Australia, New Zealand, The Bahamas, The Seychelles, The Maldives, New York, Barbados, Mauritius, Fiji and Italy. I think you’ll agree they are all perfect candidates for life’s bucket list.

That prompted us to look at the types of activities and experiences that feature on our bucket lists and we discovered that swimming with dolphins, heading to a private island, staying in a penthouse suite of a hotel, watching the sun set from the top of a mountain, and going on a private safari top the list.

And the top five features that make the perfect dream holiday? Amazing food, beautiful beaches, a luxury hotel, cultural landmarks and activities, and luxury all-inclusive offers.

A third of people we surveyed said their dream holiday would be to go somewhere they’ve never been before, while almost one in five say they want to go to a place that caters for the whole family.

And while more than one in ten say they would be most likely to go somewhere they’ve had a good recommendation for, one in 15 say they would want to go somewhere unique that none of their friends had been to before.

This requirement to find that something special, experience new things and create unforgettable memories is close to our hearts. In fact this month we’ve helped a record-breaking number of people step closer to making their bucket list dreams come true.

From new parents who want to relax in beautiful surroundings with built in babysitting, through to adrenaline junkies who want to kite surf and dive the reefs, to those who want to mark a new exciting chapter of marriage or retirement, we cater for all people with all sizes of budgets and bucket lists. It’s why we love what we do and why so many people love the holidays they book with Susie Freeman.
