The Great Escape
So here I am, heading off to Mauritius with the family. It’s one of my favourite destinations on earth and the reason why Susie Freeman Travel exists – it feels like a second home.
Family holidays are supposed to be an opportunity to escape. To break from routine, put one’s feet up and generally shake off whatever the English weather and daily life is choosing to throw at you. The only slight problem with it is that you have taken the family with you – perhaps not quite the escape you had planned!
My tip is to take up a sport, and preferably one that uses up a good couple of hours. I am certain this is why you’ll find so many golf courses attached to resorts. But in all seriousness, if you really do want to feel energised, refreshed and well at the end of your holiday then participating in sport while you’re there is a wonderful thing to do.
Mauritius in particular offers an excellent range of activities for all ages, and with such a beautiful natural environment, wonderful weather and experienced instructors resident on the islands you really are spoilt for choice – here’s just a selection:
For the thrill seeker:
Kite surfing, parasailing, Hobie Cat sailing, water skiing, deep sea fishing
For the adventurous:
Deep sea diving, snorkelling, Stand Up Paddle (SUP), sea kayaking
For the land lover:
Golf, mountain biking, tennis, horse riding
For strength and inner peace:
Yoga and Pilates
If you are interested in finding out more about how to make sure your holiday really is a great escape (or want to give your teenage children something sporting to do while you relax by the pool), please do get in touch. Now where did I put my kite-surfing gear…..?
What you say about us:
We loved your extra touches - the card before we left, the welcome rum at the airport, the beach bag... We will be delighted to recommend you and Mauritius to lots of people.
