The lodge is extremely well run under the very capable hands of their General Manager Hans who makes time for everyone and you have the feeling of being a house guest. All the staff are very welcoming, gracious and entirely genuine, and the owners mingle and chat with guests. This personal service makes Glen Avon such a very special place and sets it apart from many other popular bigger hotels in Cape Town. Food is a main focus, with hearty breakfasts on the verandah and the most delicious gourmet meals served there or in the dining room.
Guests are accommodated in 22 spacious and elegantly appointed rooms and suites furnished in a contemporary Cape style, which manage to be homely, but pampering. Each air conditioned room and suite leads out onto a patio overlooking the gardens and thoughtful touches include the comforts of cotton percale bed linen, masses of USB and plug sockets and an excellent internet connection. En suite bathrooms have modern granite and glass finishes, fluffy towels on heated towel rails, an oval bath with natural essence bath amenities and a separate walk in shower.
Glen Avon Lodge is well-placed for visiting the Cape Town Waterfront, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Gardens, the Cape Winelands and white sand beaches. It also has two swimming pools and plenty of sun loungers if you just want to sit and relax in the peaceful grounds.
