Heritage Le Telfair, Mauritius
Want something done properly? Visit Heritage Le Telfair
What should you do when you’re 10-weeks post-op after a shoulder injury? Go on a month’s tour of Mauritius, that’s what! It’s precisely what I did in November and over the next few blog posts, I’m going to share with you the hotels and resorts that made the most impact. Let’s start with Heritage Le Telfair Golf and Wellness Resort in Bel Ombre.
What made this resort so memorable is that everything they do, they get absolutely right. There’s no half measures – just spot on services as I’ll explain to you here:
Yes, you read that correctly. Heritage Le Telfair operates a service unique to Mauritius – a complimentary nursery catering for babies from 0 to 2 years old. Staffed by fully trained nannies and open 7 days a week, I am certain for many new parents this service is worth the trip alone.
Combined with the complimentary kids clubs, parents are guaranteed a break no matter what age their children are.
In some hands this is a fluffy catch-all, not so at Heritage Le Telfair. Their fully developed programme incorporates physical and mental wellbeing via a range of personalised treatments designed to ensure you achieve your goals.
An Outrageously Good Osteopath
On the topic of wellness, and to my great good fortune, I discovered Heritage Le Telfair has an in-house osteopath. From Paris. He is unique and he does not mess around. The treatment was so fabulous, I even drove back to see him again when I’d moved on to my next destination. So, if you find yourself requiring a little re-alignment after your flight, or want to address an old injury, I thoroughly recommend booking to see him before you travel.
If you want to play on a championship golf course in a stunning location, this is your ideal destination. Designed by Peter Matkovich, guests of Heritage Le Telfair enjoy unlimited use of its multiple award-winning facilities including an 18 hole championship golf course, a 9 hole Par 3 course and exceptional practice facilities.
Did you know that you can go deer-spotting in Mauritius? Well now you do. With the beautiful Frederica Nature Reserve on the doorstep you can observe them in the wild as you hike, mountain bike, ride quads or take part in a 4×4 safari at dusk. With 1,300 hectares to explore including stunning waterfalls, it’s a fabulous counterpoint to the island’s beaches.
I cannot tell you how envious I was of the couple I observed doing laps each morning in the 600m pool. Whilst my shoulder has put paid to lengths (for now), I will be first in when I return!
And as for the rest? Well the 158 suites are stunning, the food is divine and you can even dine in a restored chateau. There’s butler service and three tennis courts too. There’s more than I can tell you about here, but if you want the full story then please do get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 44 (0)1488 668821.
