Your Indian Ocean Dream Honeymoon
Thank you very much indeed to everyone who visited the Susie Freeman Travel stand at Brides the Show in London last weekend and for entering the Honeymoon Prize Draw. We hope you found lots of inspiration for the wedding and dream honeymoon planning ahead of you. The draw for the honeymoon to Mauritius took place on Tuesday and the prize was won by Claire and Daniel who were understandably thrilled when we told them the good news.
Here at Susie Freeman Travel, we believe that we are the UK’s leading experts for honeymoons and holidays in the Indian Ocean, with a huge variety of tailored honeymoon options on offer. Do not risk putting this most precious of holidays into the hands of a high street travel agent or doing your own private internet research: trust the experts and come to us for advice. Apart from choosing the right partner to get married to, it will be the next best decision you make!
Mauritius is a Jewel
Mauritius, the fourth most popular honeymoon destination in the world, is a truly glamorous, exciting and surprisingly affordable destination, guaranteed to deliver an unforgettable and treasured honeymoon which will last you a lifetime: beautiful and stylish hotels, unrivalled service, lovely scenery and free watersports. Getting there is easy – it’s an overnight direct flight from the UK, with little or no jetlag. At Susie Freeman Travel, we are widely acknowledged as the Mauritius experts, which is why the Mauritius Tourist Board chose us as their preferred partner for Brides the Show.
See hotels in Mauritius
The Maldives are probably the most romantic and private honeymoon destination on earth. With tiny, perfect, palm tree-clad islands, glorious white beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters and magnificent swimming and diving, luxury and romance positively ooze outof the pores of every fabulous resort. This is six star splendour, where privacy and seclusion are the watchwords, but it does come at a price. The worst months, weather-wise, are May to August inclusive so probably look elsewhere if your honeymoon has to be taken then.
The Seychelles beaches are the most photographed and spectacular in the world and three in particular – Anse Georgette and Anse Lazio on Praslin and Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue regularly feature in lists of the top ten beaches worldwide. It’s easy to see why the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose the Seychelles for their honeymoon – and they had the pick of anywhere in the world! Glorious scenery, soft white sand, clear aquamarine water and huge granite boulders sculptured by the elements and time itself. Whilst the quality of the hotels does not generally match Mauritius or the Maldives, this is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful holiday destinations on earth.
Safari in Southern Africa
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ when it comes to safaris and there will be plenty of trade-offs to consider: a better game experience, perhaps in the Kruger, might require you to take prophylactic anti-malarial drugs; tracking on foot or horseback is an amazing thrill but you will not get to see ‘the cats’ or elephants; how do you combine ‘bush’ and ‘beach’ without spending half your precious honeymoon in transit? Southern Africa has so much to offer – spectacular scenery, stunning safaris, majestic mountains, the wonder of the winelands and a captivating coastline. And bear in mind: only half a day away, overnight flights, same time zone, no jet lag and the Rand has fallen even further than Sterling so it is still amazing value.

The Gift of a Honeymoon
With many couples marrying once they have made a home together, the ‘gift list’ has become somewhat outdated. Towel bales and toasters are off, and champagne breakfasts are on. But how do you broach the subject if you feel uncomfortable asking for cash? The answer is to create a gift list based around your honeymoon. With so much experience delivering on honeymoon dreams, I’ve had the pleasure of arranging some unforgettable experiences – here are a few for you to consider.
