Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa
per person
At the Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok, the food is good. Although the main restaurant is buffet only, Safran offers fine dining on Indian-style cuisine and Kushi with gourmet Japanese food, both for a supplement. Private dining experiences include candlelit lobster dinners on the beach. There’s also a great vibe, particularly in the evenings, with dinner shows, live music and a late bar.
All rooms and suites in whitewashed Mediterranean-style villas are beachfront, and split level, with steps down to the bedroom, and junior suites have egg-shaped baths, and indigenous island touches. Suites on Frangipani Island, offer loads of extras. Dress up for complimentary sundowners, have an a la carte breakfast at Republik Beach Club and Grill in front of the sea, get a mini bar stocked with soft drinks and enjoy the adult-only pool, and private beach. The three-bedroom beach villas are beautiful, but expensive.
Complimentary green fees are offered on two 18 hole Championship courses, the island course on Ile aux Cerfs designed by the famous pro-golfer, Bernhard Langer and Anahita Golf Course, designed by Ernie Els. There’s also a hotel boathouse on Ile aux Cerfs offering a whole range of complimentary watersports. Their own-brand CHI spa delivers holistic treatments on Frangipani Island.
The Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok hotel is excellent for couples, golfers and families with small children as their kids club is one of the best on the island. It also a teens club which offers adventures outside the hotel.
Susie suggests:
- Take a suite on Frangipani island which offers loads of extras including daily complimentary sundowners at 5pm for an hour.
- Spend the day on Ile aux Mangénie
- Jazz evenings at the main bar are an occasion not to be missed.
