The St. Regis Mauritius Resort

The St. Regis Mauritius resort is a five star resort in a lovely setting on the Le Morne Peninsula, is excellent value for both couples and families and an ideal location for for those interested in kite surfing. Located on a long white sand beach against the backdrop of Le Morne mountain in the sleepy southwestern tip of the island, the hotel is built in a grand colonial style, with a Manor House at its centre, and butler service offered in every room.

The St. Regis Resort provides gourmet dining in five restaurants set in and around the Manor House, ranges from a French-inspired restaurant to traditional Mauritian cuisine and Japanese fine dining. Private dining ranges from candlelit on the jetty to the Chef’s Table.

The 172 two-storey suites along the beach have colonial-style dark woods, and discreet mod cons, and include a beachfront family suite. For an extra special stay, we recommend the St. Regis Villa. It comes with four bedrooms, three swimming pools and spa treatment room and gym, and walls that slide aside to give you a fantastic view of the ocean and the reef. And of course, a team of staff to attend to your every need.

The St. Regis Resort also has a swimming pool, fringed with muslin-draped cabanas, extends the width of the manor house. Complimentary watersports include snorkelling, water-skiing, glass bottom boat tours, kayaking, windsurfing, pedal boats and stand up paddle boarding. Le Morne Peninsula is one of the top places in the world for kitesurfing, and St Regis offers access to elite teachers (if booked in advance). Also on offer, is big game fishing, watching dolphins in the wild and star-lit cruises with Champagne suppers. The Kite Flyers kids club caters for those up to 12 years, and a large, modern spa, offers Iridium treatments.

Susie suggests:

  • Try a spicy Creole Bloody Mary at the 1904 bar
  • Go for Sabrage on the beach
  • Walk up nearby Le Morne mountain in the early morning, for stupendous views.
