Salt of Palmar. A new Boutique Hotel in Mauritius

SALT of Palmar, Mauritius

I had the huge pleasure of staying at SALT of Palmar, a new boutique hotel on the East coast of Mauritius a few days ago and I cannot recommend it more. It only has 59 rooms. The service is highly professional and personalised. On arrival there is no reception area so there is no feeling of a barrier between the guests and the staff. It works.

This small boutique hotel has recently been re-opened under the Lux* hotel Group. It has been very cleverly designed by Camille Walala and the use of colourful space is truly inspirational.

As you arrive your eye takes you through an arch and leads you to the Lagoon and reef with a 25 metre lap pool in the foreground. If you want a good swim workout this pool is great. Equally the best pool is the Indian Ocean and you can have a good sea swim here. The reef is not too far away so you hear it which is very soothing.

I was in Suite 315 on the top floor with a magnificent view of the turquoise lagoon and the beach.  No expense spared on the bed. Super comfy. Best night sleep.  They offer great amenities all made from natural products. Comfortable bamboo slippers with a touch of cinnamon that you can take home with you and a beautiful soft and cosy bathroom. The bathrobe is made from natural products to be used during your stay.  No sign of plastic anywhere. All the bathroom amenities are made of natural products. Even a refillable water bottle that you can take out of the hotel for a day out.

The food is truly amazing. The cooking is in an open kitchen so the guests can watch and interact with the chef. If you want something special made they will do it for you. The emphasis is on fresh healthy organic local foods. They even have their own Organic garden and there are plans to build a small restaurant there in the future.

Many hotels in Mauritius do not promote guests to go out and to explore the Island. Here the guests are actively encouraged to get out and explore the destination and mix with the locals.

If you are into Spa and holistic treatment the Spa Manager who is delightful; will personalise your treatments based on your needs. The therapists here are all excellent. I had the pleasure of having Safeenaz as my therapist whom I can most highly suggest you book!

I would highly recommend this small boutique hotel on the east coast of Mauritius. If you want a total get away from it all experience; good swimming, healthy food, great service, an excellent good night’s sleep and a top Spa experience, this is the spot.  Once you have relaxed for a few days you may well be ready to explore the Magical Island of Mauritius.
