The hotel

With its own secluded beach, you’ll be able to watch the bright lights of the Dubai skyline from a haven of calm at One & Only The Palm. This Andalusian-style luxury hideaway feels far from the city’s brash and glassy towers, where low-rise rooms are grouped in sumptuous villas dotted along the beach. Rooms are opulent but chic, with furnished garden patios or private balconies, while the sweeping, secluded beachfront villas have private pools and entertaining spaces.

There’s a magnificent pool, flanked by date palms and air-conditioned cabanas, with butlers to bring you cold drinks and cool flannels, a high-tech gym with an adults-only outdoor pool, and a huge Guerlain spa. Food is delicious (but expensive) – 101 Dining Lounge and Bar, perched on its own pier, is the perfect setting for a grilled seafood extravaganza, or there’s mezze at Zest or fine dining at Stay by Yannick Alléno.

Kids have their own club (for ages 4-11) with a games area, mini library and arts and crafts corner.
