Nestled in the verdant Hanthana Hills, this meticulously restored 20th-century plantation bungalow combines colonial grandeur with modern luxuries, featuring nine elegant suites, butler service, extensive recreational facilities, and sweeping mountain vistas just minutes from Kandy's cultural heart.
Explore Kandy’s mountains and cultural sights from this view-blessed nine-bedroom bungalow in the wildlife-rich Hanthana Hills, a 15-minute drive from town. Private butlers evoke the nostalgia of plantation-era Ceylon, while the bungalow, surrounded by a lush garden, has been thoroughly restyled and upgraded.
The bungalow dates to the early 20th century yet it has been extensively remodelled. The high-ceilinged sitting room blends the elegance of the plantation era with timeless indulgencies – a grand piano, shelves laden with hardbound books, and plush sofas for sinking into. It leads onto a deep wraparound pillared veranda that reveals the hilly views. The bungalow offers a good stock of low-key in-house activities such as board games and books, as well as a grand piano in the lounge which anyone can play – and everyone can hear. In the garden you can find a tennis court, a swimming pool and a large lawn where you can play croquet and boules.
Rooms have a classic colonial feel and bathrooms are open plan with rain showers. Rooms have air conditioning but no ceiling fans. The four smaller Stable Suites offer a lower cost alternative to the five Bungalow Suites stationed in the more atmospheric main house.
