LUX* Le Morne

The Hotel

Flanked by Le Morne mountain on one side and miles of white sandy beaches on the other, this informal hotel is sympathetically built, with thatched roofs and tropical colours, to match the landscape. This excellent five-star hotel is located on the peaceful Le Morne Peninsula on the southwest tip of Mauritius and caters for both couples and families.

LUX* Le Morne Hotels & Resorts’ concept of ‘simple luxury’ means a café right by the beach, where you can sit with a coffee on the terrace overlooking the sea, or lounge in a hammock in the ocean. Their restaurants are exceptional from the fine dining at Kawaii, their Japanese specialist restaurant, Thai cuisine at East, overlooking their beach, and Kitchen, their main restaurant, which caters for all palates and tastes.  LUX’s Tread Lightly concept is about caring for the environment and LUX* Le Morne is now a zero-food waste hotel, with food waste providing free lunches for hundreds of Mauritian school children.

Their rooms and suites are in picturesque chalets scattered around the lush tropical gardens giving the hotel a laid-back charm. The rooms are on the small size, but they have all been cleverly designed with fresh white and blue colours.

The beach has a good section for sea swimming, and there are four swimming pools. Activities here include snorkelling, wakeboarding, diving, tennis, yoga, horse riding and hiking. Le Morne is the best location on the island to learn kitesurfing, and LUX* Le Morne has its own on-site school and resident expert. The kids club, PLAY caters for children from three to 11 years, offering fun activities from art classes to treasure hunts, and high energy sports. The wellness concierge at the LUX* Me spa can help design a personal wellness programme, and bespoke treatments using their own exclusive tropical-scented products.
