This plantation-style five star set in the pretty secluded area of Bel Ombre, has a spectacular backdrop of mountains and sugar cane, and you can hear the waves washing over the reef from your room.
The Heritage Le Telfair resort is located in the south of Mauritius, its a member of Small Luxury Hotel of the World, and very attractive, with Louisiana-style, white clapboard architecture, and lots of colour in the tropical gardens. It’s set on a former sugar estate, whose restored 19th century plantation house, Heritage Le Château, is a favourite place for weddings, and couples can even stay the night there. It’s equally good for families, with a complimentary nursery catering for babies from 0 to 2 years old staffed by fully trained nannies for new parents and complimentary kids club, interconnecting rooms and a ‘kids stay free’ special offer.
Heritage Le Telfair resorts dining experiences are fantastic, with an impressive choice of dining experiences with 12 restaurants within the Heritage estate. The main restaurant Annabellas, provides a daily changing, delicious five-course menu. People come from all over the island to eat at Gin’ja, a beach restaurant offering the freshest seafood and fish served Japanese style Heritage Le Château is a romantic restaurant, with antique wood panelling offering Mauritian fine dining and has an exclusive wine cellar. Gin’ja and Chateau de Bel Ombre are both adults-only. The revamped C Beach Club – the only beach club on the island – offers healthy fresh salads at lunch time, wine tasting in a new Rosé wine cellar, and an option to create your own ice cream.
Its 158 suites in white clapboard villas are stunning, and very comfortable, with French colonial style dark timber floors and painted timber wainscoting, high ceilings with a fan and architraves in a and a spacious bathroom. Beachfront suites are lovely, with muslin-draped four poster beds, and all suites come with butler service.
A lovely central 600m pool looks out over the sea, and there are tennis courts too. For keen golfers, it has unlimited green fees on its award-winning 18 hole championship golf course, designed by Peter Matkovich, a 9 hole Par 3 course and exceptional practice facilities, with the Heritage Nature Reserve as its backdrop. Its ‘Golf Bliss’ package which ‘offers 5 rounds on 4 courses’ is one of the best on the island. It offers kitesurfing from the boathouse, although the bay is a bit shallow for watersports at low tide.

The beautiful Heritage Nature Reserve, presents a unique environment for jogging and trekking, spotting deer in the wild, as well as mountain or quad biking or take part in a 4×4 safari at dusk.
