Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury

For me, Royal Palm Beachcomber is the most prestigious hotel in Mauritius. Its location is fantastic – on glorious Grand Sable, one of the finest beaches on the island for sea swimming, on the north coast. For those who don’t want to flop and drop, it’s a short stroll to the bustling village of Grand Baie.

The food is exquisite, with French Chef Christian Née recently appointed as executive chef, and the service is excellent, and unobtrusive. Gastronomic restaurants include Le Bar Plage, set under a magnificent Badamier tree, offers a la carte lunches right on the beach. It has one of the best in-room breakfasts on the island, and beach service, is at the press of a button.

Combining luxury and exclusivity, it is one of the finest hotels in the Indian Ocean. Not only is it a Leading Hotel of the World, it’s also a Leading Spa of the World, and its spa has been recently refurbished, making it fresher and lighter, with a new healthy juice bar. It also has a new spa manager, Marjorie Cesar (from One&Only Le Saint Géran), and their tailormade wellness programme includes Personal Training, osteopathy, acupuncture, reiki, pilates and yoga ( chargeable) However the fantastic sports facilities can be enjoyed by guests at no additional cost. It has a comprehensive sports centre, tennis courts, a squash court and a golf practice green and unlimited complimentary water sports including activities such as water skiing, sailing, wind surfing, pedalos, glass-bottom boat and snorkeling.

With 69 award-winning suites, it’s small and intimate, and staff outnumber the guests by three to one. Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury is truly dedicated to fulfilling your every need, and is a perfect setting for anyone who wants to be pampered every minute of every day.

Susie suggests:

  • Order your breakfast from room service on the balcony/terrace after your morning swim. It is served, piping hot, by white-gloved waiters on a white starched tablecloth, with a small vase of flowers on it.
  • Pop into Grand Baie to explore the local shops and have a coffee at the Sunset Boulevard Café.
  • Lunch at Le Bar Plage with a very chilled glass of rose wine
  • Book a massage as the sun sets or watch the sunset with a glass of champagne on the beach.
